Typography plays a crucial role in graphic design and with Canva, you have access to a lot of default fonts to choose from. Luckily, Canva gives you the option to upload your OWN fonts as well which is EXACTLY what we’re going to talk about today.
In this post, we will show you how to upload fonts to Canva and add custom fonts to your font styles.

How To Upload Fonts To Canva
As you may already know, Canva is a powerful graphic design tool that allows users to create stunning visuals with relative ease. One of the many features that make Canva so popular is its extensive library of fonts. However, sometimes, you may want to use your fonts to personalize your designs.
Fortunately, there are a couple of ways to upload your fonts to Canva, and in this post, we will show you how to do that step by step. Whether you’re a graphic designer, a small business owner, or just someone who loves creating beautiful designs, this tutorial is for you.
Can You Upload Fonts To Canva?
You sure can! Uploading fonts to Canva is a simple process that can be done in a few clicks. Canva Pro subscribers can upload up to 100 custom fonts, making it a valuable tool for branding and design consistency. So, if you’re a Pro subscriber, give it a try and explore the endless possibilities of custom font integration in your designs. If you’re not a Pro subscriber yet, it may be worth considering – the benefits are endless!
First things first, make sure you have the font file in the correct format. Canva supports OTF, TFF, and WOFF formats. If you’re not sure what format your font is in, check the font file name. It should have one of these three file extensions. The best part? Once you add custom fonts to Canva, you can access and use them across all your designs, whether it’s in the desktop version or the mobile app.

Can You Download Fonts From Canva?
Yes… sort of! You can use Canva’s fonts inside your designs, but you usually can’t directly download the font files unless you uploaded them yourself or purchased the font elsewhere. To do this, you need to:
- Find The Font Name: If you love a Canva font, check the font name in the editor toolbar. You can then search for it online through sites like Google Fonts or DaFont.
- Check Licensing: Some fonts are only licensed for Canva use. Always check commercial usage rights before using them elsewhere.
- Keep Branding Consistent: Using the same fonts across your website, social media, and graphics helps your brand look more polished and recognizable.
How To Add Adobe Fonts To Canva
If you already use Adobe Fonts, you’ll be happy to know you can absolutely use them in Canva too! This is a game-changer for creators and business owners who already have established brand fonts through Adobe Creative Cloud. The process is pretty simple, but there are a few important things to know before you get started:
Download The Adobe Font To Your Device
First, open Adobe Fonts through your Creative Cloud account and activate the font you want to use. Once activated, the font should automatically sync to your computer. From there, you can usually locate the font file within your system fonts folder.
Canva requires the font file itself for uploading, so make sure you have access to either the OTF or TTF version of the font.
Upload The Font Into Canva
Once you have the font file ready:
- Open Canva
- Go to “Brand Kit” or “Brand Hub”
- Click “Upload a font”
- Select your Adobe font file
- Confirm you have permission to use the font
After uploading, your font will appear inside your Canva font list and can be used across all future designs.
Make Sure You Have Canva Pro
Custom font uploads are currently a Canva Pro feature. If you’re using the free version, you won’t see the upload option available. For bloggers, brands, and businesses, Canva Pro is usually worth it for the branding features alone. Being able to upload custom fonts keeps your content looking polished and cohesive.
Keep Your Branding Consistent
Using Adobe Fonts inside Canva is one of the easiest ways to maintain brand consistency across platforms. Instead of mixing random fonts together, stick with:
- One heading font
- One body font
- One accent font
This creates a way cleaner, more elevated look that feels intentional and professional.
How To Change Font Color On Canva
Changing text color in Canva is super quick and can completely change the feel of your design. Here’s how you can do it:
Select Your Text
Click the text box, then click the colored “A” icon in the top toolbar.
Use Brand Colors
Try sticking to a consistent color palette instead of choosing random shades every time.
Use The Color Picker
The color picker lets you grab colors directly from photos, logos, or graphics.
Check Readability
Make sure your text stands out against the background so it’s easy to read.
