When you’re building a brand, whether as an influencer or a small business, you need the right tools to make it big. Though there’s a lot you can figure out as you go, of course, but there are a few things you need to get right from the start to set yourself up for success and future proof your brand! Your website platform is one of those things that’s essential to choose correctly from the beginning of your brand’s journey.
Believe it or not, not all website platforms are made equal. Some are super user-friendly, but lack advanced features you may need as your brand grows. Some are super customizable, but too complicated for anyone that’s not a web developer. Plus, there are things to consider, like the ability to optimize your website and the monthly hosting costs. It’s a balancing act to get everything you want and need in a user-friendly package that fits in your budget.
Today, we’re going to look at two popular web hosting platforms: WordPress and ClickFunnels. We’ll dive into each one individually and then compare the two to determine ultimately which one is the best for your brand goals.
Let’s get into it:

ClickFunnels vs WordPress: Which One Is Right For You?
ClickFunnels and WordPress are two well-loved website platforms. Both have been used by bloggers, influencers, and small businesses to reach a target audience and increase conversion rates. Whether you want to sell more products or get more followers, ClickFunnels and WordPress can both be useful! But . . . which is better? We have an opinion, and we’ll break it down for you below:
What Is ClickFunnels and How Does It Work?
We’ve been calling ClickFunnels as a website platform, but if we were to give it a more accurate name, it’s a sales funnel builder! It’s mostly used by small businesses to guide potential customers through a series of landing pages that lead them through the buying process of a product or service.
These sales funnels are super visually appealing and intentionally built with online customer behavior in mind. To create sales funnels, ClickFunnels provides a super easy drag-and-drop editor with lots of funnel templates you can easily customize to match your branding. It also integrates well with email marketing platforms and third-party sales tools your online business may already be using.
ClickFunnels is all about increasing conversion rates and making more sales through its unique and intentional website design process. However, for you bloggers and influencers out there, you can create a blog on your ClickFunnels website using that same straight-forward and user-friendly editor. If you want to do this, make sure you’re using ClickFunnels 2.0, which is the newest version of the platform.
Is ClickFunnels Good For SEO?
Not really. ClickFunnels provides only super basic search engine optimization options. You can do things like edit metadata and ensure your website is viewable on mobile devices, but beyond that, it’s super limited. You can’t even do things like edit your URL structure. Plus, since ClickFunnels is all about providing a simplified, aesthetic, and engaging sales funnel for customers, it simply isn’t built to hold large amounts of content, and lots of indexed pages are essential for SEO.

What Is WordPress and How Does It Work?
First of all, we’re going to be discussing WordPress.org. There are two different versions of WordPress, and this is the paid version that provides all features, so WordPress.org is what we’ll discuss! WordPress is a website platform that primarily works as a huge content management system. No matter what kind of website you want to create, WordPress is built to handle it.
WordPress offers a TON of features and infinite customization options. Despite all its features, WordPress is known for being super user-friendly with its simple drag-and-drop editing options, massive catalog of downloadable plugins, and thousands of themes to customize. (However, as you scale and want to do really specific website alterations, you can do that with more advanced editors and coding capabilities.)
WordPress is the most popular platform for bloggers, because it has all the fortitude and features to handle TONS of blog content. It’s also one of the best platforms for search engine optimization, meaning you’ll have the best online visibility and ranking opportunity with WordPress over most other platforms.
Is WordPress Good For SEO?
YES! WordPress goes way beyond the SEO basics. Though they have a user-friendly platform, you can do tons of advanced optimization modifications on your WordPress website that’ll boost your brand’s visibility and organic traffic exponentially!
But, it’s not just WordPress’s customization options that make it SEO-friendly. WordPress itself is inherently structured to be SEO-friendly. It’s also secure and easily manages lots of indexed pages, which is essential for ranking well. WordPress also seamlessly integrates with social media and has customizable URLs built right in. For more SEO gain, you can simply download plugins that specialize in various optimization strategies.
All around, WordPress is unmatched when it comes to search engine optimization, which is one of the many reasons it’s so popular!
WordPress vs ClickFunnels
User-Friendliness and Customization
Both platforms are very user-friendly. You don’t need a web design background to put together a WordPress website or a ClickFunnel website. You can just drag and drop and make a perfectly branded website that is aesthetically pleasing and SEO-friendly. However, if you want to make really specific adjustments to your website, WordPress will have more advanced customization features.
Here’s more on SEO web design.
Versatility and Purpose
WordPress wins out in terms of versatility and its overall purpose. You can use WordPress to really create any type of website! It’s a favorite of bloggers like us, but WordPress is also great for e-commerce, small business, portfolios, online communities, and more. Basically, you can use WordPress to make any kind of website and support any brand goal you have from selling your services to showcasing your artistic content.
What about ClickFunnel? Well, ClickFunnel is exclusively for small businesses that rely on online sales and online marketing. It’s great for selling more products and booking more clients! The whole platform is specialized to push sales, so other types of websites won’t find ClickFunnel’s platforms useful for their target audience.
Content Management
WordPress is a massive content management system that can handle thousands and thousands of indexed pages. Whether you have blog posts, visual portfolios, podcasts episodes, or something else, WordPress can handle it and organize it all in a user-friendly and SEO-friendly way.
ClickFunnel 2.0, its newest version, does have the ability to manage a basic blog. However, remember ClickFunnels specialty is sales, and its content management system is basically non-existent. It’s not the best way to hold lots of curated content. Users on ClickFunnel aren’t meant to stick around and browse in a freeform way. Instead, the intent is that they follow preset sales funnels that lead every user through the same buying process. This is much different than your WordPress experience!
Sales
ClickFunnel is arguably better at the simple act of selling one service or a small collection of products. However, WordPress has all the same capabilities as ClickFunnel while allowing your business to scale beyond a single sales funnel/buying process. Additionally, since ClickFunnel’s SEO capabilities are limited, organic sales will be difficult for online business owners. WordPress will likely get your products and services in front of way more people in your target audience, thus being overall better for long-term business growth and sales conversions.
Cost
ClickFunnel pricing, despite its limited functionality, is far more expensive than WordPress. Plans are between $97 – $297 a month, whereas WordPress is only $11 – $15 per month. Of course, with WordPress, you’re likely going to have additional paid themes and plugins that may put your monthly cost closer to $30 – $100 per month. The obvious choice here is WordPress in terms of affordability.
Search Engine Optimization
As we mentioned, WordPress allows you to fully optimize your website, whereas ClickFunnel has very limited SEO opportunities. In a modern internet world where competition is EVERYWHERE it’s essential that you rank high on search engine results pages, whether you’re a blogger trying to gain a global following or a small business looking for local business. Whether you’re doing the SEO yourself or plan to hire experts like us at InfluencerSEO, you’ll want WordPress to increase your chances of organic growth.
Here’s more on the importance of SEO for small businesses.

Is Clickfunnels Better Than WordPress?
Not even close. WordPress is the best of the two, hands down. It’s more affordable, yet it allows for way more customization and optimization opportunities while still being user-friendly. With WordPress, you can use SEO to rank high on the search engine results pages to draw in organic visitors for years to come.
Additionally, WordPress ensures that your brand is scalable and your website can adapt with your brand. And, WordPress’s content management platform allows for you to monetize your brand in multiple ways, giving you the best shot at success. So, no matter your brand goals, WordPress is the platform for you.
WordPress is best for your long-term brand goals!
If you’re planning to start or grow a brand of any kind, WordPress is a great tool to do it! It’ll set you up well from the start and as your budget and brand grow, your website can grow and adapt with you. A great website platform is essential for futureproofing your website!
